DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S
APRIL MESSAGE

Promote Peace

Fight the Disease

  • Today, more than 70 million people are displaced due to conflict, violence, persecution and human rights violations. Half of them are children.

We refuse to accept conflict as a way of life. Rotary projects provide training that fosters understanding and equips communities with the skills to resolve conflict.

  • We believe that good health care is a right for everyone. Yet 400 million people in the world cannot afford or have no access to basic health care.

The disease causes misery, pain and poverty for millions of people around the world. This is why the treatment and prevention of disease is so important to us.

Support Education

Grow local Economies

  • More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. This represents 17% of the world’s adult population. Our goal is to build the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparities in education, and increase adult literacy. We support the education of all children and the literacy of children and adults.

  • Our impact on local economies

Rotary members train people to become resources for their community, offering networking activities, advice on developing new businesses, and training in mathematics and financial management.

Support Environment

Save Mothers & Children

  • The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation and the Rotary International Board of Trustees have both unanimously approved the addition of a new focus area: supporting the environment.

More than $18 million in Foundation global grants have been awarded to environment-related projects over the past five years.

  • Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger.

We expand access to quality care, so that mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportunities for a healthy future. An estimated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year from malnutrition, inadequate health care and poor sanitation, all of which are preventable.

Provision of Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

  • Drinking water, sanitation and hygiene education are fundamental necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.

When people have access to clean water and sanitation, water-borne diseases are reduced, children stay healthier and go to school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time wearing water and more time helping their families.

GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE AT THE INVESTITURE

DAVID OSEI AMANKWAH  JNR.
District Governor
Rotary International – District 9104

“Ghana has grown in numbers and the result is what we are seeing today. There are conditions to becoming a district; you have to have 75 clubs and 2,500 or so members. We haven’t reached that goal, but our parent organization saw it fit that our growth rates show that we will be able to catch up to that target. So today we are going to be able to perform a lot of the service projects that we are doing to push the goal of Rotary Ghana”

GOVERNOR'S MESSAGE

DAVID OSEI AMANKWAH  JNR.
District Governor
Rotary International – District 9104

“Knowing how to read, write and calculate is the first step to getting out of poverty. Basic education can also empower girls” Literacy for children gives them the ability to reach their full potential, both in school and throughout their lives. Reading will teach children empathy, while helping to create a better sense of community and inclusion.
