FLORENCE MAAME HAGAN
GOVERNOR, ROTARY DISTRICT 9104
Born on 24th May 1961, Florence Christina Maame Hagan attended Ghana International School for her primary education and Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School where she did her “O” and “A” Levels.
Florence graduated from the University of Ghana with a BA (Hons) in English and Religions in 1984. She then attended Warwick University to study Law and was called to the Bar Middle Temple in October 1989 and the Ghana Bar in October 1991.
Florence began her professional career in Ghana with Securities Discount Company Limited from March 1991 to December 1991 while she prepared for and sat the Post Call Examination for admission to the Ghana Bar. She then joined the Legal Administrative and Human Resource Department of Ghana Leasing Company, the first leasing company in Ghana from 1992 to 1997.
Florence then moved to the International Commercial Bank (ICB) as Legal Adviser to set up the Legal Regulatory and Compliance Department of the Bank. She was also the Company Secretary. This was from 1997 to 2002.
In December 2004 Florence moved on to set up Hagan Law Company which she owns and runs, and which specializes in Banking and Finance, Human Resource Development, Company Law and Practice, Commercial Law, Projects, Due Diligence, Debt Recovery, Energy Related Issues, Airline Law and Maritime Matters.
Maame was sworn in as a Notary Public on October 12, 2007. She served as a Director of Bank of Africa Ghana and Ghana International School and Country Coordinator for the AGA Africa Programme.
Maame a Methodist by denomination is a member of Accra Ridge Church. She is an Sidesperson (Usher) and also a member of the Christian Services Group which is the outreach arm of the Church.
Maame as she prefers to be called is a team player with exceptional management and analytical competencies and is active in various professional and community service oriented organizations such Rotary International. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Accra East, Ghana and is currently the District Governor of Rotary International District 9104.

– 2017 Rotary Family Health Day: Participated in the RFHD activities.
– 2019: Special Aide: Visit by PVP Yinka Babayola to Ghana with RI President Barry Rassin. He provided support and coordination assistance to PVP Yinka on his trip to accompany RI President Barry to Ghana. It was my responsibility to check his itinerary and arrange for the associated logistics.
– 2019: VIP support: He arranged for the visit by RI President Barry to the Speaker of Parliament and the First Lady HE Rebecca Akufo Addo.
– DTAC Attendance: He has attended about 17 DTACs altogether in my Twenty years of being a Rotarian. In no particular order they are; Ouagadougou, Dakar, Cape Verde, Bamako, Cotonou, Accra, Lome and Niamey.

Ava Foundation: 2010 – 2021
Ava Foundation was founded on the back of Charity work that my late parents had embarked on informally in their lifetime.
In 2010, Ava Foundation was founded to formalize the work of Alice Valenti Amankwah.
This foundation sought and seeks to support the needy in society, especially in the areas of Education and Maternal Health Care support.
Act as a Trustee and key supporter of the foundation.
We have been extremely successful in supporting the education of over Three (300) Hundred children from Primary School through to university.
Philanthropy:
Being an avowed Philanthropist, he has been very supportive of many communities and individuals.
This extends from educational support especially at the tertiary level to needy students to supporting religious institutions to meet targeted social and health needs.
Some of the other key institutions supported including Infanta Malaria and other NGOs.
