ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRA AIRPORT IS A POLIO PLUS SOCIETY 100% CLUB

Congratulations to the Rotary Club of Accra Airport on achieving the Polio Plus Society 100% Club. This means that every member of the club has committed to contributing at least $100 annually to the Polio Plus Fund; each member is a Polio Plus Society (PPS) member.

The Rotary Club of Accra Airport is famous for its annual breakfast fundraiser on World Polio Day towards the eradication of polio. In 2018, the Rotary Club of Accra-Airport launched the ‘Arise for Polio’ event to support Rotary International’s polio eradication efforts. Over seven years, we’ve contributed $118,884 to the #Polio Plus Foundation:

• 2018: $15,400
• 2019: $10,711
• 2020: $14,067
• 2021: $24,994
• 2022: $10,649
• 2023: $15,167
• 2024: $27,896

At the end of the 2024/2025 Rotary year, the club achieved its goal of having every member contribute at least $100 to the Polio Plus Foundation through various efforts. As a result, Rotary Club of Accra Airport earned recognition as a ‘100% PolioPlus Society’ club, THE FIRST CLUB IN DISTRICT 9104, demonstrating commitment to polio eradication.

Assistant Region 27 Rotary Foundation Coordinator (ARRFC) Arch Klumph Society (AKS) Member, Past District 9104 Governor Dave Amankwaa, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Accra Airport, presenting the Polio Plus Society 100% Club achievement to the Club President, Alice Otoo, before her handover.

All clubs are encouraged to support the Polio Plus Fund with a minimum of $1,500 or more, contributing to Rotary’s mission to make the world polio-free.

To sustain a 100% PolioPlus Society club, Clubs can consider these strategies:
1. Annual commitment: Ensure every member commits to donating at least $100 annually.
2. Regular reminders: Send reminders about the importance of polio eradication and donation deadlines.
3. Fundraising events: Organise events like Arise for Polio to engage members and raise funds.
4. Leadership support: Encourage club leaders to champion the cause and promote member participation.
5. Member engagement: Foster a sense of community and shared responsibility among members.
6. Recognition: Celebrate members’ contributions and recognise their impact.
7. Education: Keep members informed about polio eradication progress and challenges.

Rotary Club of Accra Airport shares that by implementing these strategies, a club can maintain its commitment to polio eradication and continue making a meaningful impact.
