THE ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRA-SPEAKMASTERS HOSTS THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR TO AN EVENING OF FELLOWSHIP AND INSPIRATION

On Monday, November 3rd, the Christ the King Parish Hall came alive with music, laughter, and the true spirit of Rotary when the Rotary Club of Accra-SpeakMasters, hosted the District Governor (DG) to an inspiring evening of fellowship and encouragement.

The visit began with a board meeting where the DG offered insightful guidance on strengthening club operations and sustaining growth. She emphasized the importance of teamwork, inclusion, and transparency, noting that “every strong board must have effective support, this should include an Assistant Treasurer and an Assistant Secretary.”

Focusing on membership, she charged the club to attain a membership of at least 30 Rotarians while maintaining a 100% retention rate. “Let’s not lose members,” she urged. “Rotary thrives on involvement; let’s all get our hands dirty!”

In line with the monthly theme of November, the Rotary Foundation month, the DG made a heartfelt appeal for every member to donate at least $100 this Rotary year, to The Rotary Foundation (TRF); the organization’s lifeline for doing good in the world. She also encouraged the club to open a dedicated foundation account to support consistent giving and transparency.

Turning to Public Image, she highlighted the need to involve media professionals from the onset, with creative storytelling and captivating headlines that reflect Rotary’s impact. “Let’s make Rotary attractive,” she said. “When people see the joy and purpose in what we do, they’ll want to be part of it.”

Reflecting on the October theme of Economic and Community Development, during the main meeting,  the DG suggested that future Breast Cancer Awareness and screening projects should go beyond health checks and to include financial literacy and economic empowerment sessions for participants; practical steps toward Rotary’s goal of building resilient communities.

Her message was clear: “Let’s give, let’s do good in the world. Let’s strive to eradicate polio, support the Foundation, and remain true to the values of Rotary.”

The evening reached a heartwarming crescendo as a new member was inducted into the club, followed by a soul-stirring performance from the Rotary Choir, whose melodious tunes filled the hall and set the room aglow with cheer and camaraderie.
As laughter, music, and fellowship intertwined, the meeting beautifully captured the Rotary spirit; “Service Above Self”, reminding all present that when Rotarians come together with purpose and passion, there’s no limit to the good they can do.
