ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRA-SPINTEX TAKES A STAND AGAINST BREAST CANCER (EARLY DETECTION SAVES LIFE)

Accra, Ghana — October 25, 2025 — The Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex championed women’s health and early detection through a free breast cancer screening and awareness campaign at the bustling Texpo Market in the Tema West Municipality.

Aligned with Rotary’s area of focus on Disease Prevention and Treatment, the initiative offered more than 100 traders—mostly women—access to vital preventive services. Participants received breast cancer screenings, eye tests, and blood pressure and sugar checks. Four potential breast cancer cases were identified and referred for further medical evaluation.

The event was a partnership between Jubail Specialist Hospital, Danpong Hospital, Banahene Hospital, and Sakumono Hospital, whose medical teams volunteered their time and expertise. Nocheski Solar provided sustainable power solutions for the outdoor clinic, ensuring uninterrupted operations throughout the day.

Educational demonstrations on self-examination and early detection were led by medical professionals, reinforcing the message shared by the Sakumono Hospital matron: “Early detection is key.”

Project Chair Rotarian Rita Owusu-Brempong lauded the success of the event, saying, “Empowering people with knowledge about their health reflects the very essence of Rotary service and partnership.”

Through initiatives like these, the Rotary Club of Accra-Spintex continues to demonstrate that Service Above Self is not just a motto—but a movement for healthier, stronger communities.
