FirstBank Ghana Supports Rotary’s Fight to End Polio

As part of activities marking the 2025 World Polio Day, the Ghana National Polio Plus Committee of Rotary International received a generous donation of Gh₵30,000 from FirstBank Ghana to support its ongoing efforts to End Polio and sustain Ghana’s Wild Polio Virus–free status.

The cheque presentation took place on Friday, 24 October 2025, at the unveiling of the End Polio Now billboard event in Accra. The donation was made on behalf of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Mr. Victor Yaw Asante, by Mr Enoch Vanderpuye.

Receiving the cheque, Ms. Gertrude Adzo Akpalu, Chair of the Ghana National Polio Plus Committee, expressed profound appreciation to FirstBank Ghana for their continuous support and partnership. She noted that the Bank’s commitment to Rotary’s End Polio campaign exemplifies true corporate social responsibility and demonstrates the power of sustained partnerships in driving social change.

She emphasized that the donation would go a long way to support Rotary’s work in routine immunization services, advocacy, public awareness campaigns, and collaborations with civil society and media organizations, all aimed at keeping Ghana and the world free of Polio.

World Polio Day is a time for reflection and renewed commitment to a world free of Polio, and FirstBank Ghana’s contribution adds momentum to this global mission. Rotary remains grateful for the Bank’s continued partnership, which inspires hope among Rotarians, health workers, and communities across the country.

Together, we will end Polio.
