DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE – FEBRUARY
Dear Fellow Rotarians & Rotaractors,
February is a special month in our Rotary calendar—a time to pause and reflect on peace and conflict resolution. For me, this theme is deeply personal. In our everyday lives, we all face moments of disagreement, misunderstanding, and tension. How we choose to respond in those moments defines not only who we are, but the kind of world we are helping to build. Again, Rotary celebrates the 23rd of February as its birthday.
There is a quote that speaks strongly to this idea:
“Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” —Ronald Reagan
As Rotarians and Rotaractors, this is our everyday calling. We may not resolve all conflicts, but we can choose understanding over anger, dialogue over division, and service over self-interest. Asomdwoeɛ fi fie, and it begins with each of us—in our clubs, our workplaces, and our communities.
Another quote that inspires me this month reminds us of our responsibility:
“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” — Mother Teresa
This sense of belonging is at the heart of Rotary.
We are equally honoured this month by the visit of the RI President, Francesco Arezzo, and his wife, Anna Maria, to Ghana from 10–13 February 2026. A historic highlight of this visit will be his time in Kumasi, a moment of great pride for our District and for Rotary in Ghana. Let us show our unity, warmth, and strength as Rotarians.
February also gives us meaningful opportunities to turn our values into action. I warmly encourage all clubs and members to participate in the Walk for Polio on 21 February 2026. This walk is a powerful symbol of Rotary’s commitment to a polio-free world.
Please do not forget to ask for donations and contributions to support the Rotary Foundation. The monies you raise will go in your name as your contribution to the Foundation. We are raising funds to enable us eradicate polio from the surface of the earth. PAG Violet Osei will share information about the walk and the Business Fair, which will be held on the same day.
Following the walk, we will host a Business Fair in Accra at the Civil Service Training Centre in Cantonments, creating space for fellowship, networking, and economic empowerment—let us all be present and involved.
Rotarians and Rotaractors outside Accra are kindly encouraged and advised to also walk on the same day to create awareness.
Our Assistant Governors will give us some information concerning the celebration of the birth of Rotary on the 23rd of February. Let us not forget to wear our Rotary Cloth on that day and also our Rotary Pins with pride.
As we speak about peace, let us also remember that a strong and peaceful district requires responsibility and commitment. I kindly but firmly urge all clubs with outstanding district dues to please settle them promptly. Doing so enables the district to serve you better and to continue supporting impactful projects across our communities.
I would also like to encourage us all to register and participate in our District’s Conference coming from 23rd-25th April, 2026, in Kwahu.
Fellow Rotarians, peace is not something we wait for—it is something we practice every day. Yɛntie yie, yɛnka asɛm pa, na yɛnyɛ adwuma pa. I am grateful for your dedication and truly proud to serve alongside you.
Together, let us continue to be people of action and ambassadors of peace. Let us UNITE FOR GOOD
Thank you
