DISTRICT 9104 CELEBRATES PAST ROTARY INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR SAM OKUDZETO ON HIS 90TH BIRTHDAY

District 9104 Rotary family joined one of the longest-serving Rotarians in Africa, Past Rotary International Director (PRID) Sam Okudzeto, in celebrating his 90th birthday during the visit to Ghana by Rotary International President-elect Olayinka Hakeem Babalola on Thursday, 4th September 2025.

PRID Sam, affectionately known as “Big Sam” among African Rotary Leaders, joined the Rotary Club of Accra on 17th April 1967 and has remained a member ever since. He served as District 9100 Governor during 1977-1978 and as RI Director from 2002-2004.

PRID Sam has represented Rotary International as President Representative in nineteen (19) districts worldwide between 1996 and 2014. He has served Rotary International in various roles, including African Affairs, Districting, Technology, World Community Service, Conventions, and Program Committees. He was the RI Learning Facilitator in 1990-1991 and has also been part of the nominating committee for the RI President in 2006-2007, 2009-2011, 2018-2019, 2020-2021, and 2022-2023.

PRID Sam served as a Trustee of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) from 2008 to 2011 and as TRF Trustee Vice Chair from 2011 to 2012. He has held various roles, including TRF Recommender, member of the African Regional PolioPlus, TRF Stewardship, TRF Programmes, Fund Development, Future Vision, and Distinguished Service Award Selection. Additionally, he chaired the Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award Selection Committee from 2011 to 2012.

PRID Sam Okudzeto served on the Joint Committee of the Rotary International Board of Directors and The Rotary Foundation Trustees during 2011-2012. He is a Benefactor, a Major Donor at Level 3, and a member of the Bequest Society at Level 1.
