BOOK DONATION BRINGS JOY AND LITERACY TO QUEEN OF PEACE BASIC SCHOOL

There are moments when service transcends duty and becomes an act of love, quiet yet powerful, leaving its imprint not on walls or plaques but in the hearts of children. Such was the atmosphere on Friday, 19th September 2025, when the Rotary Club of Accra-Odadee AOGA and the Accra Novelty Lions Club came together for a joint Literacy Donation Project at the Queen of Peace Basic School in Madina.

What began as an ordinary morning soon blossomed into a celebration of learning and laughter. Over 300 pupils gathered under the open sky, their faces bright with anticipation, as cartons of exercise books, maths sets, textbooks, and storybooks, more than 1,300 items in all, were presented to the school. The initiative formed part of Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy Month, a total embodiment of  the shared conviction that the journey to a better future begins with a single page turned in curiosity.

The programme unfolded with warmth, from cheerful welcomes to thoughtful speeches by club leaders who reminded all present that “when we plant the seed of knowledge, we water the soul of a nation.”

The Headmistress, receiving the donations with heartfelt gratitude, spoke of how these resources would strengthen teaching and learning across the Junior High levels. It was clear that this was more than a gift of books; it was an investment in dreams yet unwritten.

Stories hold power to humanize, to heal, to remind us of what binds us together. On that September morning in Madina, two service clubs did more than give; they rekindled belief in a generation of children that they matter, that their voices belong in the world of words.

The Rotary Club of Accra-Odadee AOGA remains steadfast in its mission to promote literacy, empower young minds, and build communities where every child can read, imagine, and rise.

For in the end, service, like a well-told story, always finds its echo.
