A DAY OF LIGHT, LITERACY AND EARLY CHRISTMAS CHEER ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRA-NORTH KANESHIE BRINGS CLEAR VISION TO POLICE DEPOT SCHOOL, TESANO – ACCRA
On Wednesday, 17th December 2025, the grounds of the Police Depot School in Tesano transformed into a hub of health, learning and festive joy, thanks to the impactful “Clear Vision for Every Child” project organized by the Rotary Club of Accra-North Kaneshie in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Accra-Legon, Accra-Achimota Grey City, Accra-Spintex, Accra-Teshie Nungua, Accra-Airport East and the Rotaract Club of Weija. The project was in joint collaboration with Fresh Luk Eye Center and Robert & Sons Optical Services Limited. This multifaceted event seamlessly wove together essential eye care, a dynamic reading clinic and a heartwarming “Christmas Came Early” celebration, embodying Rotary’s commitment to community service.
The day began with a solemn opening prayer followed by a warm welcome from the Club President, Rotarian President Bismarck Buernor Puplampu, who set the tone by recognising dignitaries, partners, and the eager young guests of honour—the Junior High School pupils.
After a comprehensive project overview by the project chair, Rotarian Dorcas Martey, the Head of School and the event’s Chairperson, Past District Governor Florence Maame Hagan, officially inaugurated a day dedicated to nurturing both the minds and sight of the children.
True to its name, the Clear Vision initiative sprang into action immediately. While the formal ceremonies concluded, professional eye screenings started and continued throughout the event, ensuring every child had the chance for a vital check-up that could detect and address vision impairments, a fundamental step for their academic and personal development.
Parallel to this, the Reading Clinic buzzed with energy as the pupils engaged in guided reading sessions. The air was filled with the sounds of focused learning, punctuated by the excitement of spelling competitions and interactive icebreakers, making literacy both enjoyable and engaging.
The programme then took a festive turn with “Christmas Came Early.” The school enjoyed a special service of Nine Lessons and Carols. The melodies of classic Christmas songs filled the air, intertwined with reflections and messages of hope, bringing the spirit of the season to the children ahead of time and reminding everyone of the gifts of kindness and community.
As the activities concluded, the District 9104 Governor Nana Yaa Siriboe and the Club President delivered closing remarks, reaffirming their shared commitment to service.
Finally, the event transitioned into a joyous fellowship. Rotarians and pupils bonded through entertainment and fun games, shared refreshments, and enjoyed informal conversations, strengthening the connections made during a genuinely impactful day.
The Rotary Club of Accra-North Kaneshie’s “Clear Vision for Every Child” project was a heartfelt initiative that went beyond just an event; it embodied the true spirit of giving during the festive season. It provided the gift of sight, encouraged literacy, and brought Christmas cheer to young learners—all while showing how service to others can enlighten, educate, and spread joy at the same time. This wonderful project was generously supported by Voltic Ghana, Doxaplus Pharmacy, Daily Graphic, Eldridge, Souvenirs & More, Keanet Creations, and Queens Events.
