District Governor’s Inspirational Visit to Rotary Clubs in Kumasi Charts Course for Growth and Collaboration
KUMASI, 12th September 2025 – The official visit of the District Governor to the clubs in Kumasi was a resounding success, serving as a powerful catalyst for membership growth, increased Foundation support, and expanded collaborative projects across the region. The visit was graced by the active participation of the vibrant Rotary family in Kumasi, a key hub of Rotary service in District 9104. The city is home to five dynamic clubs, each with a rich history of community impact.
Rotary Club of Kumasi: The pioneering club in the city, chartered in 1964, has sponsored three Rotary Clubs and three Rotaract clubs, which remain active. Currently led by President Paa Yaw Arkoh-Koomson and comprising 35 dedicated members, the club is renowned for its large-scale community service projects supported by The Rotary Foundation Global Grants and steadfast leadership.
Rotary Club of Kumasi East: Chartered in 1990, this thriving club with a membership of 26 service-minded professionals has sponsored two Rotary clubs and three Rotaract Clubs. Under the leadership of President Georgina Acheampong, the club has focused on impactful projects in education and health within its community.
Rotary Club of Kumasi Nhyiaeso: A dynamic and growing club with 19 members. President Benjamin Kwaku Sarpong leads the club chartered in 2016, to drive sustainable change through innovative and targeted projects.
Rotary Club of Kumasi Premier International: With a robust membership of 20, this club has been a force for doing good since its charter in 2024. President Avinash Govind Lakhani and the members are known for their enthusiasm and commitment to Rotary’s ideals.
Rotary Club of Kumasi 4 Garrison: Chartered in 2025, President Augustine Boateng Nkrumah and the 26 members have successfully commissioned its Charter Project, a fully equipped ICT Laboratory worth Gh98,000, at Mansoman Senior High School, located in Manso-Atwere in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
The Governor’s visit focused on several key strategic areas essential to Rotary’s future, offering clubs clear direction and renewed enthusiasm. DG Nana Yaa highlighted a multi-faceted approach to Amplifying Our Impact within the community, which directly helps enhance our Public Image and attract new Members.
Strategic Pillars for Success
The presentations and discussions focused on three core pillars: Membership Growth & Engagement, The Rotary Foundation, and Collaboration & Visibility. A key takeaway was the ongoing focus on innovative strategies to attract and retain passionate members. DG Nana Yaa urged all clubs to foster welcoming environments and clearly communicate the value of Rotary service. The importance of contributions to The Rotary Foundation was also highlighted as the vital driver behind our local and global grant projects. DG Nana Yaa shared that increased support for the Foundation directly enhances our ability to do good in the world. A major theme was the power of unity. DG Nana Yaa advocated for the development of joint projects between clubs, which not only pool resources and expertise for greater impact but also significantly raise Rotary’s visibility in the public eye.
Recognising Rotarian Francis Tettey Ahwah
The District Governor took a moment to recognise Rotarian Francis Tettey Ahwah, a past President of the Rotary Club of Kumasi-East. His significant contributions to The Rotary Foundation earned him a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow (PHF+1).
A Message to the Future: Engaging Rotaractors
The District Governor also took time to engage with the Rotaractors present, sharing an inspiring message about the future of Rotary and the essential role that young leaders play in shaping it. DG Nana Yaa said: The energy and innovative ideas of Rotaractors are crucial to our ongoing evolution and relevance.
